We've already done the work for you.
Sandi Amorello has a diploma that says she received her B.F.A. in illustration (which is, indeed, using visual art to tell a story) from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia (formerly Philadelphia College of Art). From all recollections, and from her mother’s tuition payment records, she believes this to be true. Upon graduation, she dragged her portfolio all over NYC, in a half-hearted attempt to gain employment. Half-hearted because, alas, her heart was with her boyfreind, Drew, in Massachusetts. After moving to Boston, she worked as an assistant graphic designer in Harvard Square, then was offered full-time employment as a graphic designer for a PR firm in Brookline.
After a mere 14 months, she couldn’t endure working under someone’s watchful eye for even one more day and, with the encouragement of family and friends, went off to start her own business. She created creative and beautiful handmade cards and stationery…and quickly branched into custom handmade wedding invitations, birth announcements and party invitations for the private and corporate sectors. She loved working closely with clients to create the invitations of their dreams…allowing their personality, style and true essence to shine through.
Meanwhile, she married her college sweetheart (the guy from Massachusetts), gave birth to their 3 children, led a creative and happy life, was subsequently widowed and decided her career was on indefinite“hold” while she wept and swore a lot.
Fortunatlely, along with being an artist, she is also an eternal optimist and nothing seems to stop her from from inevitably rediscovering the things that have always brought her joy: Collecting sentimental vintage stuff. Making art. Telling stories. And making people smile.
Disclaimer: Sandi has a B.F.A. Not a Ph.D. She does,NOT claim to be a therapist of any sort. So don’t try to sue her. She does, however, have an overabundance of experience surrounding loss, widowhood, single parenting, med-life dating….and recovering from life’s little surprises. And a passion to share her own stories with honesty and humor…thereby bringing love, laughter, art and healing into other people’s lives. Something she considers more valuable than any degree any institution of higher learning could throw her way.
